A cutting-edge method for reusing polyurethane in the refrigerator
What is a refrigerator made of?
Basically plastic, copper, iron and polyurethane.
Let’s see a method of reuse of one of these absolutely cutting-edge components.
Some of these materials, if the appliance is abandoned, like it already happens, in the open air, can be very harmful to the environment, the soil or the health of the air.
It seems that some time ago in Rome the fashion of abandoning a refrigerator in every street was raging.
Therefore, some companies have focused on the dismemberment of the WEEE (waste of electrical and electronic appliances) in all their components. It seems that less than an hour is enough to completely dissect the single refrigerator.
It has been found that one of the simplest components to dismember, recycle and reuse in a very effective way is polyurethane, defined as “eco-friendly“.
This material in each appliance represents more or less 15% of the total on a weight of about 4 kilos. The polyurethane is broken down, crushed or incinerated or otherwise reduced to powder, and reused.
Based on the breakdown of the material, a company has developed a cutting-edge and pioneering system to absorb substances, liquids, oils, paints and highly harmful products inside the waters.
The concentration of harmful content in polluted water can be reduced by a very high percentage, almost over 90%.
This new system does not require energy to be developed, since it is extracted from the WEEE and, therefore, it is not guilty of introducing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
